baby pants!

I made the infant size of blu from Knitty for Owen and Kristin's soon-to-be-born baby. I should have known better. They are cute, but very small. They look like doll pants. Owen said he would put them on the baby right after he is born, because that may be the last time they will fit. After I finish two pair for my classmate who is about to have twins, I will make a bigger pair--maybe the 12 month size?

C is for cookie?

So, I'm trying to get all of my past projects up here (the ones that I'm proud of, at least), so that I can post pictures of what I'm working on now.

"C is for Christopher" felted bag, in progress:

mitered square bag

Sometimes you come home from a hard day and the best way to relax is to felt something. This is a hand-felted bag i made for my new year's trip to NYC (thanks to Jay for modelling).
It is made with Brown Sheep Lamb's Pride Bulky, and is basically constructed of two mitered squares sewn together. I also did a cool little stranded design on the shoulder strap, which you cannot see here. I did most of the knitting at my dad's over christmas, and then felted it after a really bad day at work. I felted it in a two large bowls in my kitchen: one with almost-boiling water and one with ice water. It was fun, a made a huge fuzzy watery mess.

kevin's sweater-vest

I don't remember why Ii decided that kevin needed a sweater-vest--I think he had mentioned being cold in his new office. Anyway, this was my first attempt at making an actual article of clothing for someone else. It is based on the knitty "leftovers" vest pattern, which is a pattern for a woman, but i took out the waist decreases and made the shoulders a little bigger. Here you see it in progress and completed.
Here's a picture of me wearing a crocheted mohair scarf that I made in Spring 2005.
And here is a detail of the pattern: (shell stitch):
